and now my days
(circa 1986?)
bruce and i celebrate 28 years together this month … over that time i’ve written quite a few poems honoring our relationship … this is from many years ago …
i’m about to embark for a month in kansas — directing pageant at k.u. (i went to school there for a couple years) … i’m really looking forward to revisiting some college memories, making new friends and connecting with old ones … frank kelly, who co-wrote the book and lyrics for pageant, and i met as students there and he’s going to come in for the opening (i’m so pleased about that) … so this month’s poem is kansas-specific
how lucky we are
(for the boco company of lucky duck april, 2007)
i’ve just returned from directing lucky duck at the boston conservatory of music — a wonderful experience all around — great cast, a choreographer (michelle chasse) and musical director (bill casey) who were supremely talented and fun to work with and an overall atmosphere of support and joy … my thanks to all … my opening night poem for the company who was in that sometimes challenging rehearsal room follows
cooking at home
i’m going to boston for a month to direct lucky duck at the boston conservatory of music … though i have many good friends there and am excited about the project, i will sorely miss bruce and our meals at home …
