i’m very fond of thanksgiving … partly because bruce’s birthday frequently falls on that day … but mostly because it’s a great holiday – no gifts, just gorging on delicious food and drinking fine wine hopefully with good friends and/or family (though sometimes the latter is stressful by definition) … this is the closing lyric from a musical called family style which i wrote with janet hood … a family of friends is about to go their separate ways for the summer and beyond, so they decide to have thanksgiving then, since they won’t be together in the fall … have a great one!

september will forever bring to mind 9/11 … i’ve written some free-verse monologues by imagined characters who died in the tragedy … one of the most outlandish recent conspiracy theories in a world obsessed by them is the idea that the attacks were planned by the israelis and jewish people were warned not to go near the towers that day …
