“Up in the Air” at the Kennedy Center

i’m happy to share the news that henry krieger and i have been commissioned by the kennedy center to write a new musical as part of their upcoming japan festival which will happen in february … it’s called

up in the air

we’re working with the director amon miyamoto (pacific overtures at studio 54, tea this summer at the sante fe opera) who had the idea to adapt a well-known japanese story called “boonah, the tree-climbing frog” as a musical … the story has had at least 3 stage adaptations in japan, but this is the first time it’s been a musical …

it’s going to have a brief run at the kennedy center — 4 performances only (and one is already sold out) beginning Thursday, February 7 … click here to go to their website where you can book tickets directly.

we’ve had a great time working on this and hope you might be able to join us for the show’s world premiere …
